The decline of a society begins when the man wonders: "What is it going to arrive at me?" Instead of wondering: "what may I make?"
"…Return a true justice, tear away to the exploiters those whom they are stripping. Do not take advantage of the weakness of the immigrant, of the orphan or the widow to extort them what they possess. Stop putting to death innocents…" Jeremie 22.3.
That this word is the object of our meditation along this new year.

 Some testimonies of the evolution
of our social actions

Dears friends of CAST,
Neither God, nor life forgot the CAST. Thanks to our generous donors, today CAST manages to pay regularly approximately 900 Euros of monthly wages. This is very good news and all the team of CAST expresses you their recognition.
Follow-up of children sponsored by CAST
All the children of CAST are regularly followed-up in their education and in their family of reception. They all came to CAST during Christmas time and those who have godfathers were able to write to them.
Edith Salokoffi, an infant whose mother died due to after-birth complications was welcomed and placed in a family of reception.
Health wise, all the children are doing fine however some cases of malaria occurred despite the efforts of prevention.
Since September 2005, the young Koffi Agbeko has changed his mind and returned to school.
Reception of new children (assistance follow-up and reintegration)
CAST built relationship with the mother of a 16-month-old child that she had abandoned. The interactions with this young mother produced good results since she took her child back. CAST decided to give its support to eight other children between the ages of 9 to 16 years. These children are without any support and had made the marketplace their home where CAST had found them. After identification and talks, a psychological preparatory work for their social rehabilitation has been carried out. Following these meetings, two of them went back in their family; one found a family of reception; the others found a place in a center of social rehabilitation in Lome (Remar Togo)...
Follow-up of the disabled people supported by the CAST
Amélé was able to settle in her general food trade.
Bendère Simon is now independent because she lives in a room that she rented.
Bella, while waiting to begin her trade she moved in her room rented by CAST.
About fifteen physical disabled (members) were registered. Mrs. Safya Belarbi, orthoprothesist, visited and examined them in October 2005 in partnership with CAST.
Two wheelchairs are about to be completed and intended to the mother of Solange and to the young Koffi (gift of the Reformed Church of Sète).
Training and Education
Follow-up of the new files. The new files which were selected will be investigated in the field.
School matters. Three new children were received in the Center (housed and fed). They have been attending the primary school of Yokélé since September 2005.
Training. Three physical disabled persons began their training since February 2006 (one in shoe making, two in sewing).
Financial self-promotion. Meeting with motorbikes taxi drivers of CAST. Two meetings were held to evaluate their activity. Management report cards were produced.
Meeting with the women’s consortium of Klo. The members of this grouping were visited twice (November and December). A help in the amount of 10.000 F has been given to them for the purchase of Gari (cassava flour) cooking equipment scheduled for January 2006.
Agricultural and market-gardening activity. Corn has been grown on the land of CAST in Tové Ahundzo, a field of 5 cords (approximately 1/2 ha). Saturdays, all the fellow-members take part in its maintenance.
Garden nurseries of Gboma, Ademé (vegetables) tomatoes, and peppers have already been put in place.
Mill. A cassava and corn mill was planted in Atigbé Abayeme. The team of CAST is organized so that there is always a member in place to follow-up with its production. This mill is a source of income for the Center. It was moved to Atigbé (a village located at 30 km from the Center) because of the competition caused by another mill recently planted near the Center.

In consideration of all our projects, some people will say that we will need a lot of money and will never be able to achieve our goals... "Your project is a dream!" Yes, at first it is surely true. But we count on you. We are ready to work like ants. If each one brings his/her contribution, the cost will not be heavy and thus the ideal will become reality.
In fact, what we hope to do now is less challenging than what we did in the past 10 years. Good courage to all and thank you in advance.
For the association,
Mana Yevu

Do you have knowledge in agriculture, in breeding, pisciculture, beekeeping? Do you have experience in the field of health? Do not hesitate to contact us. Are you retired? Come to join us this year.

 Workshop of prostheses and wheelchairs
Four years ago, in the workshop of a blacksmith, we began the manufacture of wheelchairs adapted to the ground. With some donation we were able to buy manufacturing equipment, we are thankful for these donators again.
Today, we need a workshop in the Center, i.e. a building which would be used as workshop for traveling wheelchairs and prostheses, and which would be also a place of training.
For this purpose, Safia a young woman, prothesist went to the site in November 2005 to make an assessment of needs, to meet with the local officials and to evaluate the emergencies. Thank you to Safia for her contribution, her voluntary collaboration and the material collected and sent to Togo.
The cost of this construction is estimated at €25.000 The project is voluntarily directed by the architect of CAST, Geoffroy Carrard, to whom we renew our sincere thanks. We launch here a call to the prothesists, doctors, nurses, ironworkers... You are welcome to bring your expertise to us.

 The project of drugstore
To begin with, the Center needs a drugstore. The children of 1 week to 5 years often have minor pains which should be taken care of immediately.
In Togo, we do not have Social Security; the result is that CAST is in charge of all the expenses of drugs which cost a lot and begin to weigh on the budget of CAST.
Then, the village of Yokelé where CAST is located and its surrounding counts approximately 10.000 people. At least 60% of this population is very poor. And with the high cost of the drugs, people die sometimes of very ordinary diseases.
The policy of CAST is to make possible the purchase of drugs by these inhabitants who don’t have financial resources.
The construction of the drug store and the purchase of a stock of basic drugs are estimated at €40.000 Togo manufactures some generic drugs which we can buy.
Do you know pharmacists and laboratories? Are you a pharmacist? Do you have ideas? We will be very appreciative if you contact us to help us to implement this project.
